The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth is a roleplaying game using the Apocalypse engine (PBTA) to celebrate the distortion of our favorite theme park (which shall not be named). How many times have we wondered what is under the surface of this world destination? What nefarious other-worldly and sinister activities go on behind the scenes? What if it is all a big cover up for an ancient and diabolical god who is only placated by the complete devotion of cultish followers in charge of the park and the robust media empire that comes with it?
The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth is for horror lovers, monster of the week enthusiasts, and that huge population that thinks animatronics are scary. It is part satire of the enthusiasm around destination theme parks and pop culture and it is part deadly serious X-Files and Supernatural. The satirical nature shines through in its ironic approach and humorous take on characters, but the mysteries and plots that unfold are all but trivial.
Upcoming and In Progress
Happiest Apocalypse on Earth Kickstarter
I can think of no better place to launch a game like this. I’m a working professional and do not have the capital to publish and market this in the appropriate way. Crowdfunding will give me the resources I need, but more importantly build a community out of this idea so that we can bat ideas back and forth for years to come. I’m a game developer, yes, but a fan mostly and I believe Kickstarter is a great way to meet other fans.
Happiest Apocalypse on Earth RPG
As a PBTA game, The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth shines with the best of collaborative storytelling using mechanics that are familiar to the experienced and intuitive to the novice. It works well as a campaign, or a one shot and can be the centerpiece of family games or adult ones.
